What is Exploitability?

Exploitability measures how much expected value (EV) an optimal exploitative strategy could theoretically gain against our baseline GTO strategy. Lower is better.

Example:

If a board has 0.33% exploitability in a 5bb pot, an optimal exploiter could gain just 0.0165bb per hand on average. Over 100 hands, that is 1.65bb — essentially nothing in practical poker.

Lower exploitability means better strategy quality. Professional solvers typically aim for:

  • Excellent: < 0.5% of pot — Industry-leading quality
  • Good: < 1.0% of pot — Professional standard
  • Acceptable: < 2.0% of pot — Usable for most applications

Our average of 0.33% means our strategies are excellent quality, with 94.3% of boards meeting the highest industry standards.

How We Validate

1. Solve Each Board

We use professional poker solvers to compute GTO strategies for all 1,755 unique flop boards in Single Raised Pot scenarios (CO vs BB, 100bb effective stack).

2. Run Exploitability Analysis

Each solved board is tested to determine how much an optimal exploitative strategy could gain. This validates that our GTO baseline is well-balanced and difficult to exploit.

3. Aggregate & Report

We calculate statistics across all boards and publish them transparently. No cherry-picking, no hidden data. What you see here is what we actually achieved.

4. Continuous Improvement

We re-run validation when updating solve parameters or adding new boards. This ensures our quality standards remain consistent as the Oracle engine evolves.

Our Commitment to Transparency

Unlike closed-source poker tools, Handwise publishes our validation methodology and results openly. You can verify our claims yourself.

All data is auditable:

  • Solver configurations available in our repository
  • Validation script is open-source
  • Results regenerated with every update
  • No competitor name-dropping or misleading comparisons

Note: These metrics represent our Oracle strategy engine quality as of November 23, 2025. We continuously work to improve solve quality and will update this page when significant improvements are made.
